About Francis
When you think about future Hockey Hall of Famers, Ron Francis probably isn't the first name that comes to mind. Although he has earned an amazing list of honours and awards in his 24 seasons in the NHL--he is 2nd on the NHL's all-time assist list (1,249) and 4th on the all-time point list (1,798), he has won the Stanley Cup twice with the Pittsburgh Penguins, and has been awarded the King Clancy Memorial Trophy (2002), the Frank J. Selke Trophy (1995), and the Lady Byng Trophy, three times (1995, 1998, 2002)--he has somehow managed to slip past the radar of the general hockey public.
About the Layout
The images in this layout were taken and edited by me. The font, ILS Script, was downloaded from www.thebestfreefonts.com. As for the title, Ron Francis' three Lady Byng Trophies, his humility and quiet leadership, and unassuming manner despite such an enviably long and sucessful career make him, in my mind, one of the classiest players in the NHL.
About the Webmistress
Although I had watched both the Canadian men and women take gold medals at the 2002 Salt Lake Olypmics, my obsession with hockey truly began in the Conference Finals of 2002. I had just finished my first year of university, and was surprised to discover that the Toronto Maple Leafs were actually in the playoffs. So I decided to catch a couple of games, and found myself enthralled by the grace, speed and skill displayed in the Colorado-Detroit series, and the determination, heart and guts in the Toronto-Carolina series. Although Ron Francis and his Carolina Hurricanes had dashed my hopes of seeing the Leafs in the Stanley Cup final, watching Francis on the ice and hearing and reading about him during the series left me with a great admiration not only of him as a player, but as a person of character and integrity.
